First Scholarships Granted

Tamkivi Foundation for Natural Sciences is happy to congratulate our first scholars. The Council of the Estonian Natural Culture Foundation announced that from the 17 strong candidates of our first ever grant process two remarkable young scientists emerged as winners:

  • Madis Ollikainen, a Masters in Physics candidate at ETH Zürich with deep interest in computational material sciences, such as his thesis on computer simulations for electrolyte microdynamics crucial for developing better lithium-metal batteries.
  • Friedrich Kaasik, a Doctoral candidate in Technology at University of Tartu, researching electroactive polymers also known as artificial muscles.

This year’s grant for each scholar was set at 500 EUR.

Tamkivi Foundation is very grateful for the 40 donors and their 27,000 EUR in endowment to date who have made these first grants possible. We hope for your continued support and more friends to join the cause. You can find out more about the different means of donating here.

Thank you to all the applicants and congratulations again to Madis and Friedrich. We hope to chat up with both of them about their intriguing fields of study soon!
